Name is Rich... I have been riding SCST for a few months at lunch during the work week and was referred here by another member through STR.  I live in Temecula and work on Camp Pendleton on the San Clemente side, so having the trails right outside the gate is awesome.  I start my ride from work, so I ride from Christianitos to the top and back down.  If anyone regularly rides during the week and starts up top, I could work something out to start up there.  I ride a Motobecane hardtail and in the market for an Anthem soon...

Glad to be here and see you out on the trails!

Rich, we need to get you to the top of the top for the good stuff.
In the 12yrs riding these trails, I've never started at the bottom. That would be a cool concept,
Downhill at the end of the ride.

See you at lunch.

Welcome to STM!

Looking forward to some rides at SCST with you.

I live next to the Ridgeline trailhead.

P.S. That bobcat story was pretty scary. Did you see it at the lower fireroad near Mustard and the end of Dan Juan? I noticed a few sinkholes in that area and one at the start of Forts up top.

Work is at La pata & Via Callejon, so the normal route is thru the dog park (middle of the trails). but a couple times a week we'll head to the top and work our way down and back up at the end.
The time trial starts at 11:35 every day. I think I'm doing some dirt moving today though, getting ready for the rain to come.

Looking at MountainBikeBill's TMZ file, the cat was in the sinkhole on the map above Ten Story Drop and below Forts and Broken Spoke.

I am bad with the trail names, which is why I want to start riding with the locals to learn all the trails.  So far, my favorite way down is Blue Chair to I guess it would be Wall Street.

This is the route I've been doing lately:

I've done these routes as well:

Can't wait to see some more!

Did the cat look like this?

A friend of mine who lives on Salvador saw a large female mountain lion and her cubs sun bathing on the hill above White Sands and the Ridge Trail. He told the police when he got back home and they closed the Ridge Trail for the rest of the day. I also ran into a rider who saw a mountain lion walking near the top of Wall Street. The cat was about 200 yards away from him. They are out there and I see tracks all the time. I think they come down from Casper's Park via the creek to chase the deer. It spooks me out riding alone at night down by No Tools.

BTW- these 3 trails are a must for me: Qualifer - Blue Chair - Dog Park

It was smaller and had more of a reddish tint to its coat.

And thanks for the route tips!

We do weekday rides from the bottom-----I live in Southwest San Clemente so just start from my house.  Let me know what time you usually ride and we can meet at the bottom for a ride.  I'll email you too.
