k - have 3 AM bikes, and one needs a fork.

Is there an advantage to running a 1.5 over a 1 1/8?  RM Switch and Inbred have 1 1/8 HT, tracer has 1.5, currently running a 1 1/18 with reducer.  Was thinking of upgrading the switch to a lyric or van, moving the bomber to the tracer (I like air - hubby liked his coil before the bomber... 'huck-ability' - really should coil up his back side too and stop pushing shocks, and maybe leave the shock pump at home finally).

OR - upgrade the tracer to a 1.5 fork, this would up the budget ante, as I'd have to buy 2 new HS (instead of just one 1 1/8 for the 456 summer season) - and is the FSA an ok HS or do I dunk $$ for the Chris King.

aaaahhhhhh - how do you boys make these decisions?  At least with chick stuff, it just has to 'match' Wink

AND... if any one has a decent 100mm fork collecting dust the GF pirana could stand a new front end to replace the noodle currently imitating a steering device.

I would go with a Lyrik U-Turn Coil on your On One. It works so well on my Trans AM with a 66 degree head angle.

A Pike or RS Revelation Dual Air 150mm Maxle Lite would be another option.

My brief stint with my On One 456 had a Pike Coil on it.  It had a 1 1/8" steerer and Maxle Through Axle.  The Steel frame and Maxle front axle gave it a nice solid feel/ride.  Coupled with the U-turn feature and poploc, they were nice options for the ascent as well as the descent.

Rode an SC Bullit with a RS Single Air Lyrik (1 1/8" steerer/ Maxle TA).  Probably the smoothest fork I've ridden yet.  Only rode it a few times through Fontucky's sport DH course (from last July's Kenda races).  Gave up the setup when I slammed on a drop and realized I can't afford to be on Disability LOL.

I hear good things about the latest Revelations.  I believe the 2010 Revelation have 150mm of travel.  On my SC Chameleon I've got an '08 Dual Air Revelation with the U-Turn option (115-125-140mm) but is a quick release.   I'll probably go with another Revelation when I return to the world of full suspension toys (I'm on a hard tail fix).  I think I read somewhere that the Revelation is one of the lighter AM forks?

I guess I'm biased with RockShox forks, but I have nothing but good experiences with those I've mentioned.  If you're an aggressive rider, a fork with a 1.5" steerer or the tapered 1 1/8" to 1.5" steerer, coupled with a 15mm or 20mm throughaxle would probably be the best setup.  As for the headset, don't Chris King's have a lifetime guarantee on them?  I never read my paperwork.  Might as well go CK to complement your awesome fork! I know a lot of peeps run the reducers but i feel if the frame is made 1.5" then keep it 1.5" but that is just me and the extra piece of mind knowing it is a little more burly help's. as far as fork's i have heard great thing's about the lyric and found some good deal's on ebay but ended up buying a domain for my Nomad and a travis for my Blindside (both 1.5") and i also run the FSA Orbit Xtreme-Pro Headset one point five on both as well and am very happy. btw they have a 10 year warranty to. good luck with your decision.

Thanks so much for your input - think I'm going to upgrade the hubby and hang with my float on the HT - put the bomber on the tracer. Getting ready to hit Sedona for the weekend with a bunch of Dirty Girlz - so I'll be back begging for more next week.

Heck I can have upgraditis anytime -- right Wink
